Analysis of an Inflection S-shaped Software Reliability Model Considering Log-logistic Testing-Effort and Imperfect Debugging

چکیده
Gokhale and Trivedi (1998) have proposed the Log-logistic software reliability growth model that can capture the increasing/ decreasing nature of the failure occurrence rate per fault. In this paper, we will first show that a Log-logistic testing-effort function (TEF) can be expressed as a software development/testing-effort expenditure curve. We investigate how to incorporate the Log-logistic TEF into inflection S-shaped software reliability growth models based on non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP). The models parameters are estimated by least square estimation (LSE) and maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) methods. The methods of data analysis and comparison criteria are presented. The experimental results from actual data applications show good fit. A comparative analysis to evaluate the effectiveness for the proposed model and other existing models are also performed. Results show that the proposed models can give fairly better predictions. Therefore, the Log-logistic TEF is suitable for incorporating into inflection Sshaped NHPP growth models. In addition, the proposed models are discussed under imperfect debugging environment.

متن کاملSoftware Reliability Growth Models with Log-logistic Testing-Effort Function: A Comparative Study
Software reliability growth model is one of the basic techniques to assess software reliability quantitatively and it provides the essential information for software development activities. In this paper we compare the predictive capability of popular software reliability growth models (SRGM), such as exponential growth, delayed S-shaped growth and inflection S-shaped growth models. We first re...
متن کاملTesting Effort Dependent Delayed S-shaped Software Reliability Growth Model with Imperfect Debugging
In software development process, testing is one of the most important aspects and hence, software reliably is very important factor of software systems. In the last four decades many software reliability growth model based on non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) have been developed which incorporates testing effort function. However, the previous models are quite helpful for software engineer...
متن کاملSoftware Reliability Modeling with Testing-Effort Function and Imperfect Debugging
Considering testing effort and imperfect debugging in reliability modeling process may further improve the fitting and prediction results of software reliability growth models (SRGMs). For describing the S-shaped varying trend of the testing-effort increasing rate more accurately, this paper first proposes a inflected S-shaped testing effort function (IS-TEF). Then this new TEF is incorporated ...
متن کاملA Unified and Flexible Framework of Imperfect Debugging Dependent SRGMs with Testing-Effort
In order to overcome the limitations of debugging process, insufficient consideration of imperfect debugging and testing-effort (TE) in software reliability modeling and analysis, a software reliability growth model (SRGM) explicitly incorporating imperfect debugging and TE is developed. From the point of view of incomplete debugging and introduction of new fault, software testing process is de...
